Summary: A strong, hands-on Production Supervisor who will lead and oversee daily operations across our Upholstery, Upholstery Assembly, Assembly, and Mattress Assembly departments. This role requires a bilingual leader (English/Spanish) who can communicate clearly and effectively across a diverse workforce, hold employees accountable to production and quality standards, and actively build a stronger work ethic and sense of ownership within their teams. This is a floor-based leadership role that requires confident communication, the ability to address performance issues directly and fairly, and a coaching mindset that pushes employees toward higher standards rather than simply managing tasks.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Yes – responsible for all staff performance activities, including hiring, performance appraisals / evaluations, and disciplinary action if / when required.
Essential Duties / Responsibilities
Leadership & Accountability
- Communicates with clarity and intent, solves problems by removing barriers and owning outcomes, leads with emotional intelligence and consistency, drives innovation through openness to new ideas, and coaches each team member with personalized support — understanding that their team's success, and accountability for it, ultimately rests with them
- Directly supervise production staff across four departments, ensuring daily production goals, quality standards, and safety protocols are met.
- Hold team members accountable for attendance, performance, quality of work, and adherence to company policies and procedures.
- Address performance and conduct issues promptly, consistently, and professionally, following company disciplinary procedures when necessary.
- Set clear expectations and follow up to ensure they are being met.
Communication (Bilingual Requirement)
- Communicate fluently and effectively in both English and Spanish, verbally and in writing, with employees, other supervisors, and management.
- Translate instructions, safety procedures, and company policies clearly to ensure full understanding across the workforce.
- Serve as a communication bridge between upper management and floor employees.
Team Development & Work Ethic
- Actively coach, mentor, and motivate employees to build stronger work ethic, ownership, and pride in their work.
- Identify skill gaps and provide on-the-job training or coordinate additional training as needed.
- Recognize strong performers and address complacency or low-effort behavior early and directly.
- Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement across all four departments.
Production & Quality Management
- Work closely with Planning to ensure that weekly production requirements can realistically be met, by communicating capacity constraints, staffing levels, and any material or scheduling risks as early as possible.
- Plan, assign, and adjust daily labor and workflow across Upholstery, Upholstery Assembly, Assembly, and Mattress Assembly to meet production schedules.
- Monitor output, quality, and efficiency; identify and resolve bottlenecks in real time.
- Conduct quality checks and ensure finished products meet company standards before moving downstream.
- Partner with Quality Control to address recurring defects or process issues.
Safety & Compliance
- Enforce all safety policies, PPE requirements, and OSHA regulations across supervised areas.
- Conduct or support safety training and incident investigations.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment.
Administrative
- Track attendance, productivity, and performance metrics for supervised departments.
- Complete daily and weekly production reports for management.
- Participate in hiring, onboarding, and performance review processes for direct reports.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Bilingual — fluent in English and Spanish (spoken and written).
- 3+ years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
- Proven ability to hold employees accountable and manage performance issues directly.
- Strong leadership presence with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
- Solid understanding of production workflows, scheduling, and quality standards.
- Ability to stand, walk, and be active on the production floor for extended periods.
- Ability to adhere to the company's attendance policy, including regular and punctual attendance.
Preferred
- Experience in furniture, upholstery, or mattress manufacturing.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing or continuous improvement principles.
- Experience with basic production reporting/ERP systems.
Education/Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand/walk for most of the shift on a manufacturing floor.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs as needed.
- Exposure to typical manufacturing environment conditions (noise, materials, machinery).
