Description
Babbitting Service Inc, (BSI) a leader in the hydrodynamic fluid file babbitt bearing manufacture, repair, and design located in South Elgin, IL is seeking an experienced Controller to lead our Accounting Department and support the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) with financial reporting, budgeting, and strategic planning. This 'hands-on' role oversees Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, payroll, and audits while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency across all accounting functions. The Controller will play a key leadership role in maintaining strong financial controls and supporting the company’s growth.
The ideal candidate will bring 5+ years of accounting experience, including 3+ years in a managerial or supervisory role, strong analytical skills, and advanced Excel proficiency; as well as supporting a workforce of 75 - 200 employees.

Requirements
- Serve as the team lead for the Accounting Department, providing guidance, training, and performance oversight.
- Ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance of all accounting functions.
- Oversee all AP functions performed by the AP/AR Clerk, including vendor invoices, receiving, and weekly ACH batch payments.
- Oversee all AR functions performed by the AP/AR Clerk, including customer invoicing, monthly statements, and follow-up on past due accounts.
- Prepare and present monthly AP and AR reports to the CFO.
- Work closely with the CFO to establish and maintain monthly, quarterly, and annual budgets.
- Collaborate with Purchasing and management teams to support the budgeting process.
- Prepare month-end, quarterly, and year-end financial reports.
- Manage and process payroll accurately and timely.
- Lead annual workers’ compensation audit and other required audits.
- CPA certification.
- Familiar with various timekeeping and Payroll/HRSI systems or platforms such as Paylocity, Bamboo, QuickBooks and/or ADP.
Additional Required Skills
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Advanced Excel proficiency required).
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Previous accounting experience in a manufacturing or industrial work environment
