PRESS BRAKE OPERATOR/SETUP (FORMING DEPARTMENT)
Reports to: Plant Operations – General Manager
Location: West Chicago
FSLA Classification: Non-Exempt
1st and 2nd shift 10% shift premium for 2nd shift
Summary of Position:
Press brake operators produce parts and tools from metal using a press brake, a computer numeric
controlled (CNC) piece of equipment that makes precision bends. The use of hand tools such as dial
calipers, bar micrometer, squares and protractors. Converting decimals to fractions is also part of the
daily tasks.
Job Duties:
Department Lead
Operates Computer Numerical Control (CNC) on respective AMADA brand equipment
Performs machine set-ups, adjusting and loading tooling, and making changes at the controls for
parts as required for specifications set forth in blueprints, drawings, engineering orders, etc.
Check parts for conformance to prescribed tolerances
Operator/Setup
Report problems with quality, processes, equipment and/or materials to Supervisor or Quality
Control Specialist (QC)
Setup and operate machines, independently with limited supervision
Ensure the work area is kept clean and free from hazards
Collaborate with other departments as needed
Assist in departmental measurable goals relating production concerns, quality and efficiency
Assist in monthly inventory count to ensure proper inventory control
Actively look for ways to improve the profitability and productivity of the company
Skills and Experience Required:
Must be able to work at fast pace, follow instructions and be self-motivated
Requires excellent math skills including fractions, and geometry
Requires ability to read measuring equipment, calipers and other tools
Requires ability to read blueprints and calculate bend allowances
Work independently with minimal supervision
Must work well with others
Be able to lift up to 50 lbs. routinely
Ability to stand for minimum of 8 hours
Ensure and verify parts match to customer drawings
Provide immediate feedback when problems occur
Education or Experience:
High School diploma or GED
Cad or drafting experience a plus
Must have Press Brake Experience (1-2 years minimum experience) (Amada experience preferred)and Press Brake and Turret set up 3-5 years preffered
United States Work Authorization (Required)
Experience with Amada HDS, HG Press Brakes or Cincinnati Press Brakes a plus
