JOB DESCRIPTION

 

JOB TITLE:       Controller

 

REPORTS TO:   President                   

 

FLSA STATUS:  Exempt          

SALARY: 110,000+ BOE   10% Proformance Bonus

SUMMARY:

 

The Plant Finance Controller is a critical member of the site leadership team, leading all financial, accounting, customer service, and accounts receivable/payable. This role ensures accurate financial reporting, while driving operational excellence, cost efficiency, and strategic alignment. This position reports to the President.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee all financial operations, including month end and year-end closings, financial reporting, budgeting, reconciliations, and internal controls.
  • Lead customer service and financial transaction processes, including order entry, returns, collections, and resolution of customer issues to ensure a seamless experience.
  • Analyze and present financial performance during monthly business reviews, with a focus on key performance indicators (KPIs) and actionable insights.
  • Conduct variance analysis and collaborate with manufacturing team to ensure timely and accurate processing of work orders and cost tracking.
  • Manage vendor relationships, including invoice processing, delivery confirmations, and timely payment execution.
  • Collaborated with the HR Coordinator to facilitate recruitment, payroll, and benefits activities, acting as an additional resource for internal HR support while maintaining primary focus on financial operations.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities to simplify and automate financial processes, allowing for greater focus on strategic and operational decision-making.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
  • Minimum of 6 years financial work experience, preferably in supply chain finance
  • Minimum of 3 years managing all P&L and balance sheet activities.
  • Strong understanding of accounting systems (manual and automated), financial analysis, and ERP systems.
  • CPA certification preferred
  • Experience with Lean manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies is a plus.

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

 

Work Environment

  • Primarily based in an industrial or manufacturing plant setting, with regular interaction across production, operations, and administrative teams.
  • Office environment within the plant for financial analysis, reporting, and strategic planning.
  • May require occasional presence on the production floor to collaborate with operations and understand cost drivers and workflow.
  • Fast-paced and dynamic atmosphere, requiring adaptability and attention to detail.
  • Standard business hours, with flexibility during month-end close, audits, or budgeting cycles.
  • Collaborative culture with cross-functional teams including HR, operations, and supply chain.

Physical Demands

  • This role is primarily sedentary, involving extended periods of sitting at a desk working on a computer.
  • Requires frequent use of hands and fingers for typing, writing, and handling documents.
  • Occasional walking through the manufacturing floor to observe operations or attend meetings.
  • May involve light lifting (up to 25 pounds), such as moving files, office supplies, or small equipment.
  • Must be able to access filing cabinets, bend, reach, and occasionally stand for short durations.
  • Visual acuity required for reviewing financial reports, spreadsheets, and system data.
