We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Applications Engineer with the ability to manage projects to evaluate customer concepts/designs and provide solutions requested by the customer with accurate cost models. This individual should have a solid background in sales, manufacturing or engineering.
This position is 100% onsite and based in our South Elgin, IL facility. Depending on workload, this position may require occasional travel to work at our Belvidere, IL location.

What You Will Do:
- Estimate projects with the ability to define project scope, objectives and deliverables while preparing accurate cost estimates
- Develop concepts and processes for handling and processing of customer's parts for requested project quotes
- Determine estimated resources required to provide solutions for customers based on concept/design developed
- Provide sales department accurate cost estimates and documentation of what is included when providing concept/design and estimated resources required for customer estimates
- Provide technical support for sales during their sales process including why our concept/design will be successful and any changes customers could make to increase the likelihood of project success
- Understand estimated costs associated with the quote concept, investigate alternate technologies and strive for cost savings and continuous improvement
- Obtain accurate costs for all subcontracted equipment, outside services, and material purchased for preparing project quotes (Feeders, Laser Welders, Camera Systems, etc.)
What You Will Bring:
Our ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate experience in planning, executing and overseeing projects, as well as the ability to create and manage project timelines providing accurate cost estimates.
- S. degree in fields of engineering or technical project management, or equivalent experience. B.S. degree preferred, but not required
- 5+ years’ progressive experience as a project manager or applications engineer
- Customer interaction with projects in automation or packaging machinery.
- Ability to apply automation concepts to practical situations.
- Mechanical aptitude with technical writing of automation solutions
