Position Summary
The CDL A Delivery Driver will report to the Warehouse Manager and be responsible for correct, timely and safe delivery of Weldstar gas and welding supplies to our customers’ locations. You will work effectively and professionally in a team environment with minimum supervision and maintain a positive working relationship with customers and employees, providing great customer service.
Essential Functions:
- Complete the orderly loading of 30’ trucks which ensures the efficient use of time and scheduling of delivery routes. Same day routes within an average of 100 miles of branch location.
- Deliver and unload products to customers while abiding by load safety, DOT and general safe driving guidelines.
- Maneuvering, lifting, and carrying cylinders and welding materials in excess of 50 lbs. and pushing/pulling items up to 1000 lbs. with proper assistance.
- Handling, storing, securing, nesting cylinders and constructing clusters according to Weldstar Company procedures.
- Complete daily pickup and unloading of cylinder product empties from the customer. Ensure the cylinder balances are correct with shipments and returns.
- Operating phones, digital scales, scanners, forklifts, pallet jacks, hand carts and various hand tools in accordance with safety standards.
- Loading cylinders onto pallets
- Where possible, listen to and resolve customer complaints. When necessary, provide feedback to the office regarding customer complaints or issues on pricing, quality, credit or need for sales representative follow-up.
- Cleaning and organizing dock and filling stations
- Perform pre and post trip inspections.
- Assist in product barcoding cylinders by using TIMS program
- Maintain a Class A CDL license with Hazmat endorsement in accordance with DOT requirements
- Provide additional support through communications, documentation; and answering simple team member and customer questions.
- Performing other related duties as assigned.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Weldstar Company operating hours are Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to 4:00pm with 30-minute unpaid lunch. Starting location and start and end times may vary depending on customer needs.

- Good knowledge of the regulatory requirements supporting facilities operation, manufacturing and distribution environments.
- Able to read and comprehend material safety data sheets
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Must possess a Class A CDL and a valid US DOT Medical Examiner’s certificate
- Must have a Hazmat Endorsement
- Successful completion of DOT pre-employment drug-screen and physical and company specific physical demands assessment.
- Clean driving record 5+ years.
- Ability to lift 50 – 100 pounds
- A minimum of 6 months of experience driving or proof of completion of a driving school
- Prior experience in a warehouse distribution setting preferred
Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibility.
Work Environment
- Subject to environmental conditions ranging from below freezing to over 100 degrees
- Subject to noise; there is sufficient noise to cause the need to shout in order to be heard above ambient noise level.
- Subject to hazards; includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles.
- Position requires prolonged sitting, occasional bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling, twisting/turning, stairs/ladder, crawling and climbing
- This position operates indoors about 70% and outdoors about 30% of the time.
Physical Demands
Some duties of this job include physical work which will require operating forklifts, manual pallet jacks, and carts to keep facilities clean and orderly. Stooping, squatting, reaching, walking, standing, and lifting throughout the day. This position requires the ability to lift more than 50 lbs. regularly and push/pull items up to 1000 lbs. with proper assistance.
Pay Range and Benefits:
The disclosed pay range is based on a consideration of neutral factors and criteria such as required qualifications, experience, education, skill, training, certification, seniority and more.
Pay Range: $26 - $29.00
