Role and Responsibilities

Responsible for all operational activities within the shipping department.  Works with members of department to package and fulfill the requirements to meet or exceed the customer’s expectations.  Supervise and direct activities within the shipping department. Responsible for accurate shipping to FlagSource and Hotelflags.com customers.  Works closely in a professional manner with Sales, Operations and Finance departments.

 

Operational Excellence

·         Oversee that all orders meet their scheduled shipping date.  Part of the team to drive on-time delivery to the customer. Stock on-time shipping should exceed 94% on time and custom on-time should exceed 98% on-time.

·         Review order backlog and prepare orders for shipment either on the day they are due or in advance of the scheduled ship date.

·         Responsible for maintaining inventory of shipping supplies. Responsible to give inventory of shipping supplies for replenishment to inventory manager

·         Oversee inbound freight, checking to make sure that the correct number of packages and packing lists are turned in.  When there are skids received write the number of cartons on the bill of lading that are on the skid.

·         Oversee operation of UPS/Speede/FedEx/USPS manifest systems making sure packages are shipped properly.

·         Proactively communicates with production managers, customer service and sales leaders on shipping delays and other challenges when they arise.

·         Executes root causes and comes up with corrective action plan when problems arise such as shipments going to the wrong location.

·         Performs assigned tasks within the overall workflow that meets or exceeds customers’ expectations.

·         Creates shipping labels and bills of lading for outbound LTL shipments.

·         Meets quality standards at all times for all projects and provides recommendations for improvements

·         The Shipping Manager sets the example for all shipping employees and is responsible for everyone in the department working responsibly and professionally

·         Putting inventory away in a timely and organized fashion. Inventory should be put away within 72 hours completion in the line

·         All other duties as requested by Supervisor/Owner

     *      Role requires standing, lifting, walking, sitting, bending, pulling, and reaching throughout  shift as needed

·         Computer literacy

·         Exceptional verbal, written, and visual communication skills in the English language

·         Ability to work in extreme heat or cold temperatures in a warehouse environment, non-air-conditioned

Qualifications and Education Requirements

·         Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while meeting deadlines and managing multiple projects

·         Ability to speak and write both English and Spanish a strong plus
